Frequently Asked Questions
01.

Who is the Partnership for Regional Prosperity?

Danville City Council and the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors formed the Partnership for Regional Prosperity in 2020 by appointing a steering committee which was a recommendation in the Regional Economic Development Strategy created in 2019 for Danville and Pittsylvania County.  It called for the creation of a group to help address the change that comes from the success of that strategy knowing that planning for that change will produce the best outcomes.

02.

What will the Partnership do?

Since 2018, more than $1.1 billion in economic development projects, promising more than 4,000 jobs, have been announced for the region and it is critical that the community is prepared for the serious growth coming from this success.

The Partnership is a civic think tank that will share knowledge about what is ahead for our region and seek input to make Danville and Pittsylvania County models of future-forward thinking and action.

03.

How will the Partnership assist?

The Partnership will contribute by:

  • Researching issues
  • Sharing information
  • Convening community conversations
  • Promoting collaboration
  • Encouraging a future-forward mindset
  • Identifying and aligning resources
04.

Will the Partnership duplicate other efforts?

This regional public-private group does not dictate to or replace the many institutional partners who have done so much to bring the region to this point. The Partnership will not deal with the day-to-day but will convene, encourage, and organize the stakeholders to explore how to best look ahead and manage the change that comes from growth. Each opportunity or challenge faced by the region will, most likely, require a different approach and partners which makes a collaborative approach critical.

05.

Can I get involved?

First and foremost, the Partnership is a convener. The steering committee will involve the community in identifying, understanding, and seeking solutions to challenges, while identifying and leveraging opportunities that come from advancing the economy. There will be opportunities for all of us to learn together and for each of us to find a place creating solutions. For more information, contact us.
